99 WAYS INTO NEW ZEALAND POETRY
Paula Green & Harry Ricketts
Random House - $44.99

This new title in which features 85 key poems along with 25 poets talking about their work serves as an introduction to poetry in general but of course particularly NZ poetry.

Sadly from an interior design point of view it looks like a rather boring text book, the typeface is disappointingly small, (it took me straight back to student days!), but don't let that put you off because the text proves to be anything but boring, in fact it is both lively and accessible and of course it has been compiled by two of our foremost poets and poetry reviewers.
I especially enjoyed Brian Turner talking about his poem Open Minds and  SelinaTusitala Marsh on her poem Calabash Breakers.
