Following a number of e-mail and telephone enquiries received here at the blog office I contacted Geoff, Publishing Director Penguin Books NZ, to see what had happened and how he was making out - here is his response:
The cause was an unfortunate encounter early one morning a couple of weeks ago with a jug of boiling water, which decided to spill itself down my front. The burns were quite severe and I spent five days in semi-isolation in the burns unit at Middlemore Hospital
