Graham Reid’s latest book is about encounters in odd corners of the USA, Asia and Europe and the discovery of unexpected places. The title story is about a journey into southern Italy in search of the birthplace of a strange saint who could fly.

"Marvellously accurate snapshots of people and places from elsewhere… pictures in words which amuse and inspire, entertain and inform.” - New Zealand Herald.

Graham has been dubbed a “true Renaissance man” due to his wide personal interests and ability to write stories ranging from international politics to the arts and pop culture, as well as restaurant, book and music reviews. He has also written about architecture, designed book and album covers and worked extensively in radio.

In 2003, he won the prestigious Media Peace Award for his articles on the volatile politics of the Solomon Islands. His first collection of travel writing, Postcards from Elsewhere won the Whitcoulls TravCom Travel Book of the Year award.

Dymocks Ponsonby will be selling books at the event.
