Broadcaster and "Strictly Come Dancing" winner Natasha Kaplinsky (above- Telegraph photo) is to join the judging panel for next year’s Orange Prize for Fiction, the 17th year of the prize.Kaplinsky will be joined by writer, novelist and broadcaster Lisa Appignanesi; journalist and broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire; and writer and broadcaster Natalie Haynes.
Novelist Joanna Trollope is to chair. She said: "This is a wonderful quartet of judges. Because of their different professions, they all have a different perspective on the power of language and ideas, and thus will bring energy and experience to our discussions."
Previous judge and businesswoman Martha Lane Fox is also to join the Women’s Committee in 2012, which acts as guardians of the prize. The other members include co-founder and novelist Kate Mosse; agent Clare Alexander; co-founder and agent Jane Gregory; project director Harriet Hastings; co-founder and Cornerstone m.d. Susan Sandon; and Sceptre publishing director Carole Welch.
The winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction will be announced on 30th May 2012.
