New Zealand Psychologist Chris Skellett (below right) celebrated the Dunedin launch of his first self help/lifestyle book on Wednesday evening. About 120 people attended, and over 60 copies were sold.
There was a genuine excitement about both the books content and it’s very accessible style. The central concept, of balancing pleasure and achievement in our lives, is introduced and applied in a very simple but engaging series of reflective exercises, leading to a structured plan for personal change. There are lots of everyday examples of how a preference for either a pleasure orientation or an achievement orientation can lead us askew, and there are many practical strategies for bringing life back into a more sustainable balance. A thought provoking read for us all!
The launch was held at Etrusco’s Italian restaurant at the Savoy, and was well attended by retailers, the Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from most community helping agencies. It looks like a potential winner on many fronts.
This launch follows a successful week of promotional events in Auckland, co-hosted by Exisle Publishing and the College of Clinical Psychologists.
