" The Corrosion Zone, the second collection of poems by Christchurch poet, Barbara Strang.
Barbara’s home is at the foot of the Port Hills, Christchurch, scene of the recent cataclysm and was temporarily delayed by the recent earthquake of Feb 22.
The basalt cliffs of Godley Head, pictured on the front cover, bear witness that even the ground we settle on is vulnerable, that all we rely on can be swept away in an instant.
The book charts a rollercoaster ride through grief and loss to redemption. Barbara wings it through these scary regions with short understated lines, infused with light and the occasional dash of wit.
