New book

Easter Island , Myths and Popular Culture, by Ian Conrich
An exhibition catalogue has been published to accompany the travelling exhibition, Easter, Island, Myths and Popular Culture. The book is heavily illustrated and contains all of the text from the exhibition’s 39 panels. The book includes a discussion of the stone figures (moai), the Easter Islanders, and explorers such as Captain Cook and Thor Heyerdahl. It’s main focus is an extensive consideration of the representation of the island in comic books, cartoons, computer games, music, animation, and film. With subject contributions from Roy Smith, Martyn Harris, Frieder Wahl, and Dan Bendrups.

Travelling exhibition and new website on Easter Island
 The exhibition Easter Island , Myths and Popular Culture, has just finished 6 months at the Kon-Tiki museum in Oslo. Previously, it was on display for 6 months at the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, in Marton, Middlesbrough. It is estimated that it has now been seen by more than 90,000 people. This exhibition of 39 panels and nearly 300 objects, weighing nearly half a ton, will next be moved to Easter Island, where it will be the first ever international exhibition to be displayed in the Island’s museum. Images from the exhibitions and much more can be found on the supporting website , with significant information on the Events page. The Popular Culture and Education pages are currently being developed to support schools. The exhibition team is:
