THE WONKY DONKEY CONTINUES ON ITS WONKY WAY

The Wonky Donkey continues to be a runaway success, with Scholastic telling The Bookman this morning that they have now printed over 300,000 copies of the hugely popular children’s picture book. The catchy song by Craig Smith, with hilarious illustrations by Katz Cowley, has consistently been the number 1 bestselling New Zealand children’s book since its publication in October 2009, and is available as the original book and CD edition and also as a boxed set with the book, CD and a Wonky Donkey plush toy.

Singer-songwriter Craig Smith said in a recent interview with NZ Today magazine that ‘he attributes his success, not only to Katz’s amazing illustrations, the huge network and good reputation that the publishers have, but also to the fact that he was on the road with the song and performed at school and pre-schools around New Zealand and Australia.’

Willbee the Bumblebee was published in October 2010, and has also been a hit with over 85,000 copies now in print. And fans of Wonky and Willbee will be delighted to know that the third offering by this creative duo, a hilarious take on All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, will be published in October 2011, along with a Willbee the Bumblebee boxed set including the book, CD and a plush toy.
