Evanovich's "Smokin' Seventeen" Sells 218,000 on First Day

PublishersWeekly:

Total first-day sales for Janet Evanovich’s new book, Smokin’ Seventeen, reached 218,000 copies across print, audio, and digital formats. The news was announced today by Gina Centrello, president and publisher of Random House, whose Bantam Books imprint published the book on Tuesday, the first Evanovich book released by the company since it acquired rights to the author last year.

On its first day, 100,000 hardcovers, 100,000 e-books, and 18,000 audio books were sold through U.S. retail channels. It was the largest first day sale for any Random House, Inc. title published in 2011. At her kick-off event on Tuesday night at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in the Market Fair Mall in Princeton, New Jersey, Evanovich sold 1,000 hardcovers to a crowd of nearly 900 fans.
Evanovich's next book is Explosive Eighteen, to be published on November 22.
