New Mandela book presented to Michelle Obama at rare meeting

 Mrs Obama, her daughters Sasha and Malia and her mother Marian Robinson, were granted a rare audience with 92-year-old former president Nelson Mandela at his Johannesburg home yesterday.

Mr Mandela doesn’t entertain many guests these days so this was indeed a rare meeting and this was Mrs Obama's first meeting with him.

During the meeting Mrs Obama was presented with a copy of the newly published book Nelson Mandela By Himself: The Authorised Book of Quotations, which went on sale in New Zealand this week. (Penguin NZ$35)
