Fraser and Moran to judge Baileys Women's Prize

Former Penguin UK m.d. Helen Fraser is to chair the judging panel for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction 2014, the prize's first year with its new sponsor.

Fraser, who is now chief executive of the Girls' Day School Trust, will chair a starry judging panel which also comprises journalist and author Caitlin Moran, classicist Mary Beard, crime novelist Denise Mina and BBC broadcaster Sophie Raworth.

Fraser said she was "delighted" to be chairing the judging panel, commenting:  “It is a fantastic quartet of judges, and I am looking forward enormously to beginning on our journey of engaging with some extraordinary minds and extraordinary voices.”

Syl Saller, chief marketing officer of Baileys owner Diageo, said: "It's fantastic to see such a strong panel of inspirational women judging this year's Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction. For almost two decades the prize has championed the work of great female writers and I am certain that the judges will continue to build on this important legacy in 2014."

The 2014 award will be made on 4th June 2014 at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London. The winner will receive a cheque for £30,000 and a limited edition "Bessie" figurine.
The 2013 winner was A M Homes for May We Be Forgiven (Granta).
