The new mobile-first version will drop the gaming elements, focus on its core audience of young adults, and allow its content to be indexed by search engines.

The list, revealed today (11th September), comprises of 11 books in five age categories: two plus, five-seven, seven-9, 9+ and YA. In the youngest age group, the titles are Kipper’s Visitor by Mick Inkpen (Hodder Children’s Books) and Supertato: Hap-pea Ever After by Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet (Simon & Schuster Children’s Books).
 
Freight Books buys Cargo PublishingScottish publisher Freight Books has acquired fellow Glasgow-based independent publisher Cargo Publishing.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, was completed last week, with authors informed this week.
Gill Tasker and Helen Sedgwick, the directors of Cargo, will work for Frieght on a consultancy basis and will join the editorial board of Freight alongside its publisher Adrian Searle and editorial director Rodge Glass. Cargo had no other full-time employees.
Syndicat National de l’EditionFrench publishers fight changes to copyrightThe French Publishers Association (Syndicat National de l’Edition, SNE) is spearheading a campaign to fight the forthcoming copyright reform in the European Union and digital economy law in France.

"Turning copyright into an exception and the right to plunder into a rule seems to be the intention of the future legislation", it declared as it announced a 30-page manifesto published this week.
Robbie Savage book to ConstableConstable is to publish former footballer Robbie Savage’s I’ll Tell You What…
Publishing director Andreas Campomar bought world rights to the book from Tim Bates at Pollinger Ltd.
In the book Savage will "reveal all, from the highs and lows of life as a Premier League footballer to his views on managers and referees".
During his 18 years as a professional footballer, Savage made 346 Premier League appearances, won a League Cup winners medal, captained all four of his clubs and won 39 international caps.


Books Are My BagBAMB reveals kids’ bagThe Bookseller can exclusively reveal the children’s Books Are My Bag (BAMB) tote, designed by author and illustrator Lauren Child and featuring her popular characters Charlie and Lola.
Around 20,000 bags have been produced and they will be handed out by bookshops on 10th October, the first Saturday after Super Thursday (8th). The BAMB campaign and the adult tote bag, designed by British artist Grayson Perry, will be launched on the 8th.
Kudos wins ALPSP innovation awardKudos, the web-based toolkit which helps researchers and their publishers increase the visibility and impact of published research, has won the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers' Award for Innovation in Publishing.
The award was presented last night (10th September) at the ALPSP international conference in London.
The Silver SpoonSilver Spoon turns 10Phaidon is publishing four new books to celebrate the 10th anniversary of iconic Italian cookbook The Silver Spoon (£29.95), which launched the Phaidon food list back in 2005.
The new titles are Quick and Easy Italian (September, £19.95) and the first three books (Pasta, Pizza and Desserts, all October, £9.95) in a new series, Italian Cooking School, under The Silver Spoon umbrella.
Egmont promotes Cattell to PR and communications directorEgmont Publishing is restructuring the sales, marketing and PR teams of its books division and promoting Katy Cattell to the new position of PR and communications director.
In her new role Cattell, who is currently PR director, will lead the consumer marketing, audience development and digital strategy for Egmont's books division, in addition to her responsibilities for PR and corporate communications for Egmont’s books and magazines.
Simon & SchusterS&S signs Guardian comic strip creator Joe BergerS&S has acquired two novels from author, illustrator and Guardian comic strip creator Joe Berger at auction.
Jane Griffiths, senior commissioning editor for children’s fiction, bought UK and Commonwealth rights for the two books from Caroline Walsh at David Higham Associates. The North American rights were bought by Ruta Rimas, senior editor of Margaret K. McElderry Books, for S&S US via Tracey Adams of Adams Literary on behalf of Caroline Walsh.
Pavilion to publish Soup for SyriaPavilion Books is to publish a cookbook to raise money for Syrian relief efforts, with recipes donated by chefs including Yotam Ottolenghi, Claudia Roden and Anthony Bourdain.
Author Barbara Abdeni Massaad and Michel Moushabeck at US publisher Interlink Books came up with the idea of Soup for Syria, and Pavilion is working with Interlink to publish the book.
