Three finalists have been picked for 2015 Thurber Prize for American Humor. The $5,000 prize, named after author James Thurber, honors an “outstanding book of humor writing” for the year.
The finalists include Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? memoirist Roz Chast, I See You Made an Effort author Annabelle Gurwitch, and Dear Committee Members novelist Julie Schumacher. Past winners of this award include Naked writer David Sedaris, Truth in Advertising author John Kenney, and Dan Gets a Mini-Van memoirist Dan Zevin.
According to the press release, the winner will be revealed at a New York City ceremony on September 28. New York Times journalist Henry Alford will serve as the host for the evening.
