PUBLISHERS AND THEIR PUBLICISTS NEVER SLEEP !!

Even this week prior to Christmas gorgeous new books continue to arrive......

Look for example at these two wonderful examples from the small but perfectly formed southern publishing house, Longacre Press:

PAINTED POEMS
ONE ARTIST; 20 POETS
Eion Stevens $35

What a great idea. An artist selects 20 poems, among them work by Lauris Edmond, C.K.Sread, Peter Bland, Ian Wedde. Jenny Bornholdt, Alistair Campbell and Kevin Ireland, and then creates a paining to go with each of the poems all nicely commented upon by David Eggleton in his introduction. Brilliant.

And here is Stevens' painting to go with Lauris Edmonds' poem At the Exhibition: Gun Club.

PARALLEL LINES - Riding the Central Otago Rail Trail
Annie Villiers & John Z Robinson $30

Another great idea. Riding side by side artist & writer recreate the amazing landscape of the Central Otago Rail Trail.

The trail is 150 kilometres long and is NZ's first rail trail to be dedicated to cyclists, hikers and horse riders. Much of the trail cannot be seen from the roads and it is now visited by thousands annually.

The perfect gift for anybody who has done the Trail or plans to do so.

Painting of Olreg Hut at right.
