End of year greetings from Auckland University Press

Press book stand at FrankfurtHolidays are on our minds not to mention champagne, cake, sleep and reading big fat novels. It’s been a huge year: we put out an ebook library plus a full catalogue of new books, such as runaway success Patched, the Birds of New Zealand guide and Marti Friedlander’s Self-Portrait; had a great Frankfurt; saw our books and authors taking out major prizes; and urgently changed distributors.

We appreciated great support from HarperCollins as we left their stable and are enjoying our new home with the fabulous Craig Potton team (our books arrive at their Nelson warehouse, below).

We’ve had a ball working with a great bunch of authors, designers, editors, photographers, booksellers, festival organisers, librarians and media. Thank you all.

We hope everyone has a good break and that you support the booksellers who are working through and who would love to see you! Happy holidays and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

The NZ Listener’s 100 Best Books round-up includes some of our must-reads: The Lifeguard by Ian Wedde, Dark Sparring by Selina Tusitala Marsh, Self-Portrait, Patched, Friendly Fire by Gerald Hensley, and His Own Steam on the work of Barry Brickell. They also gave a hat-tip also to Birds of New Zealand.
