The Paper Plus Group, has announced that it will take over the Dymocks store on Broadway, Newmarket.
Paper Plus Group CEO Rob Smith says Paper Plus is continuing to expand on store locations and customer offerings, even at a time when other retailers are retrenching.
“In the last few years we’ve been committed to repositioning the brand with a modern feel and have made consistent efforts to ensure that Paper Plus is the preferred choice for our valued customers,” says Smith.
“Repositioning the brand and focussing on our strength in the range of books available in store has been invaluable and we have gone from strength to strength ever since.
“This recent purchase of Dymocks Newmarket further cements our position as a key player in the market.”
Once the refit to the Paper Plus brand is complete the store will be opened by franchisees Jeanee and Malcolm Hughes.
Mr and Mrs Hughes who currently own the successful Paper Plus Birkenhead store are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that will come with the move.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting time for the Paper Plus Group. We envisage that we’ll hit the ground running with this busy Newmarket store, but before doing so, we’ll be sure to launch it with a bang” says Jeanee.

The only surprise is that Dymocks hasn't exited the NZ market earlier. As an effective indie bookstore, however, it's disappointing that another indie isn't taking it over.
Paper Plus stores are very good bookshops and are independently owned by the franchisee. Being part of a co-operative makes it a viable option in todays difficult market.
Paper Plus are first and foremost stationers - the name says it all.
