Don DeLillo gets National Book Award lifetime achievement medal

Don DeLillo was awarded one of literature's most prestigious honours last night when he was given the the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.

DeLillo, 79, is best known as the author of White Noise and Underworld. His next novel, Zero K, will be published in May 2016.


He was given the honour at the 66th National Book Awards ceremony on a night when Adam Johnson's story collection Fortune Smiles won the best fiction award.
