HarperCollins Signs New Katherine Applegate Series
On the basis of a three-sentence proposal, HarperCollins has signed Katherine Applegate, who won this year's Newbery Medal for The One and Only Ivan, for a middle-grade trilogy that will begin with Endling, likely in 2016. Applegate's agent, Elena Giovinazzo of Pippin Properties, was as intrigued as the author was when she read the definition of "endling," which appears on Wikipedia: "One of the proposed names for an individual animal that is the last of its species or subspecies." more





New Series, Big Tour, and First Movie for
James Dashner

Like a character in one of his high-stakes fantasy adventures, James Dashner has a lot to contend with – in his case, all good. His latest book, The Eye of Minds, is out October 8. That same day, the author embarks on a 13-city tour to promote the new YA novel, and a boxed set of The Maze Runner, his previous YA trilogy, is being released. And Dashner's fiction makes its silver-screen debut on February 14, 2014, when 20th Century Fox releases a film adaption of book one, The Maze Runner. more






Princeton Children's Book Festival: In Photos
The eighth annual Princeton Children's Book Festival was held on September 21 at the Princeton Public Library in Princeton, N.J. Eighty-six authors and illustrators gathered on the Alfred E. Hines Plaza adjacent to the library to celebrate the community, books, and the love of reading.
