Usborne attempts world record

Usborne is to celebrate the publication of Penny Dreadful is a Record Breaker with an attempt to break a Guinness World Record.
The record attempt, to hold "the largest reading lesson in a single venue" will take place at King Edward's School in Bath, the hometown of Penny Dreadful author Joanna Nadin on World Book Day, 7th March.
Nadin said: "I think funny books are too often overlooked as somehow unimportant, yet they can be a great way to teach children new words, and get reluctant readers engaged. So, this is a fantastic, if slightly terrifying way to celebrate World Book Day, and literacy in schools, though Penny is already a prize-winner so fingers crossed!”

The school has developed a reading lesson plan, based around an extract from the book, in consultation with the author. It will be taught at the event to more than 250 children aged between seven and 10 years old.
Independent witnesses on the day will the Right Worshipful Mayor of Bath, councillor Andrew Furse, and the Bath Chronicle's education reporter Siobhan Prideaux.
Nadin won Surrey Libraries Children's Book Award for Penny Dreadful is a Magnet for Disaster, which was also shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize in 2011.
