UNESCO Gala Event at the Englert Theater, Iowa City,
Tuesday evening, April 7

The International Writing Program is happy to spread the word of a special
visitor to Iowa City: Ali Bowden, the director of Edinburgh's City of
Literature, and a driving force behind UNESCO's Creative Cities Network will be in Iowa City, April 3-9.

The City of Iowa City has invited Ms. Bowden with the purpose of helping
city and university constituencies understand the possibilities for Iowa City, now that we're a UNESCO City of Literature. She will also be updating us on the Network of Cities of Literature, which now includes Edinburgh and Melbourne, but which will soon be expanding to other cities.
Her big public event will be a reception and talk at the Englert on Tuesday evening, at 5:00 PM, to which the entire community is invited. We hope many, many people come!

Please see the invitation at http://www.unescoiowacity.com/.
Footnote:
Above sent to me by author Gordon McLauchlan who wonders if Auckland could become a City of Literature?

I got to meet Ali when she was in Melbourne. A fantastic and passionate lady! Why don't you get a committee together for Auckland Graham? Isn't Dublin trying also?
