THREE MAGAZINES CONSUMED YESTERDAY
The weather here in Noosa is wonderful – cloudless skies, gentle sea breezes, maximum afternoon temperatures in the high 20’s, overnight minimums mid teens.

While the others have been swimming I have been reading two books I have to review next week but in between have been indulging myself with magazines and newspapers.
Yesterday I read THE WEEK,(24 April) the best of Australian and international media, a weekly I had not come across prevoulsy although I notice this is issue #24 and that it has a NZ price on the cover so it must be available at home.
Great magazine, on art paper, in full colour, a summary of what ha happened over the previous week here and around the world. And the retail price is a mere A$4.95 (NZ$5.95 at home).

Then on to my favoured THE SPECTATOR AUSTRALIA (25 April) an issue featuring eight pages on former Spectator Editor, now Lord Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. Plus the usual entertaining 12 pages of Australian content, heaps f book reviews and acrtoons.
Finally TIME magazine (April 27) with it’s cover story Going Home – millions of workers who have lost their jobs are on the move, changing the nature of the global economy.
Only 19% of the population of Dubai are locals, and 35,000 East European workers left the UK in the last quarter of 2008 are but two of the surprising statistics from the story.
