It’s interesting given the recent news on the blog about banned books and gay books being dropped from Amazon, that Houghton Mifflin are about to release a Graphia paperback edition of Paula Boock’s prize–winning young adult novel Dare Truth or Promise next month.
The book first published here in New Zealand by Longacre Press, is endorsed on the front cover with ‘A brilliant girl-on-girl romance’ Kirkus Reviews.
Houghton Mifflin editor Margaret Raymo disputes the Amazon claim, saying ‘the whole Amazon thing was a computer glitch not some nefarious plot. And the banned books list comes out every year, usually with Harry Potter leading the pack. For us Dare Truth or Promise is simply a strong and compelling novel that we felt deserved a life in paperback. We’re happy to have it on the list.’
