This news just in from a very proud and excited Barbara Larson, publisher at Longacre Press in Dunedin:
Bernard Beckett’s terrific sci-fi novel Genesis is being released in the US this month by Houghton Mifflin. The book, first published by Longacre Press in NZ, is off to a great start with a stunning cover (LEFT) and by being listed on Amazon.com as ‘Best of April’ – one of the ‘Significant 7 Books of the Month’.
The reviewer writes ‘reads like a thriller to the last word, propelled by the power of ideas longing to be unleashed’.
A reviewer on Tor.com, John Ottinger III, claims ‘it’s the best novel he’s ever read.’ And goes on to say ‘Bernard Beckett is an amazing new talent.’
Bernard is travelling to London in May for the UK release of Genesis.

Bernard was the guest speaker at Saturday night dinner at the Musuem Hotel for the New Zealand Society of Authors last weekend, as part of a weekend long celebration of 75 years of NZSA PEN in NZ. He graciously entertained us as our "star dinner guest" and held us spellbound with his eloquent enthusiasm and passion for science. Any students at Hutt Valley High who have the good fortune to have this man for their teacher, with his dual passion for literature and science - wow, lucky students!
Maggie Rainey-Smith, Chair, NZSA Wellington Branch - and this segues nicely into perhaps a little write-up for your blog Bookman about our fantastic weekend of celebrations - I'll be back.
