Puccini’s final opera, Turandot, opened to great acclamation in Auckland on Thursday evening. After the Auckland season, details at., the production will move to Wellington.

Margaret Medlyn in the title role is an absolute star but there are many other superb performances as well – I was most taken by Maria Constanza Nocentini as Liu and Dongwon Shin as Calaf. And in especially fine form the 60 members of the Chapman Tripp Chorus.

This is opera as good as you will see it. Don’t miss it !
