Thank you for this Bookman. And I agree with you that Paul Henry sort of undid all the good by his stupid remarks about not being able to remember the last book he finished. What a shame, he's an idiot.
May I also take this opportunity of saying how much your blog is valued by me and all the other booksellers I talk to. I am a provincial booksller, have been for over 10 years and your blog is the best thing to happen to the retail book trade since I've been in it.I really would like to have another 1.5 persons on my staff so I could spend more time seraching the Internet & keeping myself au fait with what's happening out there. But margins are such that I can't afford the extra 1.5 persons. Then along came Bookman Beattie who does all that research for me and puts the stories up on his blog so we can access it. And for free! Bloody brilliant. Warmest thanks for all you do, and for all your support of the beleagured small independent bookseller.You are a star and I hope you have a brilliant time at the Booker prizegiving.
