Penguin plans Spot's 30th birthday celebration
18.08.09 - The Bookseller

Penguin is planning a year-long celebration to mark the 30th anniversary of its character, Spot. Since the first lift-the-flap title by Eric Hill, Where’s Spot, was published in 1980, Spot has sold over 50m copies worldwide.
A teal-foiled anniversary edition of Where’s Spot? will be published in January 2010. Further publishing for next year includes Spot’s Birthday Balloon and a Spot Buggy Book.
A programme of 30th celebratory activities is also planned, including a national character day across bookshops and birthday events in libraries nationwide. Spot birthday party event packs are available to retailers and will include hand puppets, posters, stickers, balloons, party hats and activity sheets.
The Spot website at http://www.funwithspot.com/ will also be rebranded.
