The Sporting Life of Jack Lovelock


David Colquhoun is well-known to New Zealand researchers as the long-time Curator of Manuscripts at the Alexander Turnbull Library, the research library of the National Library of New Zealand. He has published many articles on aspects of New Zealand history, sport and archives. His book As If Running on Air: The Journals of Jack Lovelock, was published in 2008.
Jack Lovelock is one of New Zealand's legendary sports figures. He was a previous holder of the record for running the mile, and his greatest moment was winning gold in the 1500m at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

This talk will be supported by film and sound extracts.
