On the eve of the winner announcement, the 2009 Man Booker Prize shortlisted authors speak at Southbank Centre

The Man Booker Prize returns to Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on the eve of the winner’s announcement. It is the only opportunity to join all six 2009 shortlisted authors for readings from their books, debate and an audience Q&A chaired by Ion Trewin, Literary Director for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction. Book signings with the authors will take place after the talk.

The most important literary award in the English language, the Man Booker Prize celebrates the finest in new fiction by rewarding the best novel of the year.

This year’s longlist of 13 authors includes two past winners, four previously shortlisted authors and three first time novelists. The six shortlisted authors will be announced on 8 September and the winner revealed on 6 October.

Join the Southbank Centre debate on 5 October at the Queen Elizabeth Hall where the countdown begins as to who has won the 2009 prize.
