Merlin Digital, a Dubai-based Digital Lifestyle Technology products company, has launched a six-inch ebook reader, the slimmest e-book device in the market, which is expected to revolutionise e-books and digital reading habit in the UAE.

The Merlin eBook Reader, is the latest way to read textbooks, novels, magazines or any documents that can be converted to the PDF file. The e-book device fits well in the hand just like palm desktop. Devices such as ebook reader help customers carry around a library's worth of books in one hand. The new technology also helps avoid any trees being cut down for printing books.
The device has an internal memory of 96MB and comes with a 2GB SD card (supports up to 4GB) allowing users to carry up to 1,000 books in palm library, said the company in a statement.

Sharad Bachani, Product Development Manager, Merlin Digital, said: "While the ebook sector is still in its infancy, new products such as the Merlin eBook give readers a whole host of new ways to enjoy reading their favourite books."At 180g, the ebook is so thin and light that it is perfect for daily commute or taking on holiday."With 8,000 books weighing the same weight as an elephant, how else are you going to fit 8,000 books in your suitcase."He said the e-book has functions that change the font size, rotate the screen and because the screen is two-and-a-half time sharper than a computer screen it's great for people with bad eyesight."
