KAI FROM THE COAST

I saw a small advertisement for this title in the NZ Herald this morning so sent off an e-mail to Opotiki College enquiring about the book. Here is the reply I received:

This unique, high-quality cookbook contains 50 traditional and modern Maori recipes written in both English and Te Reo Maori and is supported by 19 full-colour photographs of food and Eastern Bay of Plenty sea and landscapes. The book concludes with a step-by-step guide of how to prepare a hangi supported with 8 colour photographs.

Our 2008 Young Enterprise Scheme Company developed the concept and produced, marketed and sold the book. As a result of their efforts they won two National YES trophies; the Quicken Trophy for Most Profit and the Award for Excellence in Maori Business. They also won the Emerging Business Award competing against commercial companies in the 2008 Whakatane Community Awards.
Opotiki College has taken over the product and is using it as a way to raise funds to support College Young Enterprise Scheme Companies to develop their ideas and to develop entrepreneurial skills in general. Very few other opportunities exist in this area in our low decile school community.

Kai From The Coast is sold for $25.00 per copy and is posted free within New Zealand.

Retail trade enquiries are welcome.
Spice up your own cooking with a truly NZ product or buy as a gift for overseas friends to give them a piece of our country.
