Celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the Katherine Mansfield Fellowship, will take place in Menton, France, from 21-26 September 2009.

New Zealand authors Fiona Farrell and Vincent O’Sullivan are being flown over there with help from the New Zealand France Friendship Fund to help celebrate, with various events, including:

· A lunch hosted by the Député-Maire
· Special guests including Ambassador Sarah Dennis
· Readings in William Waterfield Garden which he will open to the public specially for the occasion
· Writers talks to secondary school students
· Donations of books by the current and former NZ fellows to the library in Menton
· The announcement of the winner of a short story competition (which was for students under 30 years of age enrolled in a French or New Zealand university or those holding a student visa. The theme was ‘The Antipodes’, with French participants writing in French and New Zealand participants in English.
