Agatha Christie Night
at the Southbank Centre

Best-selling authors Val McDermid, Kate Mosse and Jasper Fforde discuss their love of the Queen of Crime at the Southbank Centre in London on Wednesday 16 September as part of this year’s Christie Week celebrations.

The authors talk about the compelling skills of the author who brought Poirot and Miss Marple to a worldwide audience, and discuss why Agatha Christie is the most widely published author of all time, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare.

They also share some extracts from their favourite works and take questions from the audience. The discussion is chaired by the crime writer, Simon Brett.

Fans can also discuss Christie’s classic thriller, Murder of the Orient Express, published 75 years ago, at the Southbank Book Club on 14 September at 6.30pm at Spirit Level at the Royal Festival Hall.

Also during Christie Week, on Tuesday 15 September, Agatha Christie’s birthday, visitors to the matinee performance of The Mousetrap – the world’s longest running show – will be given a special opportunity to meet members of the cast and production team, including the play’s Artistic Director, David Turner.

Fans attending both events will be treated to a free book, The Detectives, which contains 10 short stories featuring Poirot, Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence, and in The Dead Harlequin, Mr Harley Quin, Agatha Christie’s favourite. Three tales about Mr Quin premiere on BBC Radio 4 in Christie Week.
