MUSEUM OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK

This museum has been on my list of places to visit for ages and yesterday we finally made it. Located way way up town, 1220 Fifth Avenue between 103rd and 104th streets, I guess almost into Harlem.
It proved to be an interesting couple of hours .There was a wonderful 25 minute movie showing the fascinating, sometimes turbulent history of this great city from the early 17th century through to the present day.
And the museum shop attempts to carry every book currently in print on the city. I counted well over 100 titles.
This is clearly not a well funded museum like its rich cousins further down Fifth Avenue - The Met and The Guggenheim - but what they lack in funding they make up for in spirit and in interesting smaller exhibitions focusssing on aspects of the city's history such as the Golden Years of New York baseball through the 50's and 60's.
Well worth a visit.
