2014 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature

Arts SA has moved forward the closing date for applications for the 2014 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature this year. Please don’t miss the chance for a share in the $165,000 prize pool for national and SA-only awards, as well as great career development opportunities. Applications must be in by 5.00 pm Friday 28 June.
Some of the highlights of the awards for SA Writers:
A new fellowship for South Australian Indigenous writers is offered for the first time in 2014. The $15,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Writers’ Fellowship is open to South Australian ATSI writers in the genres of fiction, literary non-fiction, poetry and playwriting.
The fellowship for South Australian writers for young people has been renamed in honour of SA writer Max Fatchen, who made a huge contribution to children’s literature and the local writing community.
With the support of the State Theatre Company of South Australia, the Jill Blewett Playwright's Award has been increased in value to $12,500, and will take the form of a commission for the company.
There’s also the $15,000 Barbara Hanrahan Fellowship, open to SA writers working in the areas of fiction, poetry, drama, scriptwriting, autobiography, essays, major histories, literary criticism or other expository or analytical prose, and the Wakefield Press Unpublished Manuscript Award, which includes a $10,000 cash prize and publication of the winning manuscript by Wakefield Press.
