ABOUT THE PUBLICATION:
Broadsheet No. 13: a selection of football poetry 1890-2014 is a special World Cup issue of well-known Wellington poet and publisher Mark Pirie’s New Zealand-based poetry journal. It has been published in honour of football and the World Cup 2014 being hosted this year in Brazil.
Football is a lifelong passion of Mark Pirie’s, who spent several years collecting the poems for the book. The anthology covers some of the history of New Zealand football, including New Zealand’s only appearances at the World Cup in 1982 and 2010, as well as references to English, Brazilian and world football.
