Past winner Philip Ardagh is among the writers who are shortlisted for the 2013 Roald Dahl Funny Prize
Philip Ardagh, a previous winner, has been shortlisted for the 2013 Roald Dahl Funny for one of the books in his new series about a family called The Grunts.
The Grunts All At Sea, which is llustrated by Axel Scheffler, is up against five other books, including Geek Girl by Holly Smale, in the books for children aged 7-14 category.
Pete Johnson, Mark Lowery, Jamie Smart and Jim Smith are also on the shortlist in that category.
The other award is books for children aged six and under, and both awards carry a prize of £2,500.
Schools across the UK are involved in the judging process and votes from children will be combined with a panel that includes illustrator Sarah McIntyre. Michael Rosen is chairing the panel. He created the prize in 2008 with Booktrust and the Literary Estate of Roald Dahl.
