A stunningly photographed celebration of the Otago Central Rail Trail.
In this vivid, beautifully drawn account, author Paul Sorrell and photographer Graham Warman take us on a 150-kilometre journey across the Otago Central Rail Trail, deep into the heart of the South Island’s spectacular interior. They share the sights, sounds and stories of their days on the trail . . .
from the scenes that took their breath away to the warm and wonderful people who crossed their path.
Written in the form of a journal, and enriched with stunning photography (some examples below) and interviews with local personalities, as well as glimpses of the wildlife and history of the area, this book will provide a precious memento of a personal journey for those who have done the trail – or the ultimate inspiration to dust off a bike and experience the trail for those who are thinking of doing it.
‘For the many thousands who have walked or ridden the Otago Central Rail Trail it holds particular, cherished memories. Some impressions will stick for a lifetime: bouncing over bone-rattling bridges,
or sailing through sheer-sided canyons of schist. Or simply barrelling along, mile after mile, with the gravel crunching beneath your tyres under endless wide blue skies.’
