FALL 2011 EVENTS: - Three Lives & Company, NY

Jesse Browner
Everything Happens Today
Wednesday, 5 October
Jesse Browner, author of four previous books and translator of many more, will read and sign from his latest novel, Everything Happens Today.  Taking place in a single day, the novel follows 17-year-old Wes, as he navigates his way through New York City, sex, love, Beatles lyrics, friendship, God, and French cuisine.  Funny, moving, generous, and exhilarating, Browner has written an enchanting and poignant tale of growing up.  (Europa Editions)

John Moynihan
The Voyage of the Rose City: An Adventure at Sea
Elizabeth Moynihan in Conversation with Jennifer Callahan
Wednesday, 12 October
Please join us for an evening of conversation between Elizabeth Moynihan, mother of the late John Moynihan, and documentary filmmaker Jennifer Callahan (The Bungalows of Rockaway).  Seeking adventure between college semesters on the high seas, John, also the son of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, joined the merchant marine, and ultimately learned more about himself than he may have gambled for.  This moving, melancholy, and heartfelt book was the result of those watery months.  (Spiegel & Grau)

Midnight Release Party for
by Haruki Murakami
Monday, 24 October
Join us for our first – and perhaps only – Midnight Release Event when we celebrate the publication of Haruki Murakami’s new blockbuster, 1Q84.  We’ve waited over two years for this and now the translation is complete and will be available for sale on 25 October.  We’ll be open all evening on Monday the 24th, and at the stroke of midnight, when the horns of Janacek’s Sinfonietta sound, we’ll be able to sell 1Q84.  And for the first 20 people to purchase 1Q84 we have a special gift.  Join us for refreshments and one of the great publishing events of the year.  (Knopf)
If you would like to reserve a copy of 1Q84 email us ( or give us a call.
Events are first come first serve; please arrive early.
