Simon & Schuster Illustrated has won an auction to publish a cookbook by 2010 "Celebrity Masterchef" winner, actress Lisa Faulkner.
Francine Lawrence, editorial director at Simon & Schuster Illustrated, bought world rights in a two-book deal from Jonathan Conway of Mulcahy Conway Associates Ltd on behalf of Jonny McWilliams at the Wasserman Media Group. The first book, Recipes from my Mother for my Daughter, will be published on 1st March 2012 as a £20 hardback.
"Holby City" and "Spooks" actress Faulkner won "Celebrity Masterchef" last year with a string of recipes inspired by her late mother. The book will feature tips from Faulkner, anecdotes from her life as well as recipes including the fish stew she cooked on "Masterchef" and her mother's Christmas cake.
Lawrence said: "Lisa will be a real friend in the kitchen offering practical tips and a helping hand to budding chefs and more accomplished cooks alike, and not a scary goddess with an impossibly stocked pantry at her disposal. This book will reassure, inspire and excite everyone to cook easy delicious food for their children, families and friends.
"Recipes from my Mother for my Daughter marks the launch of a major new cookery personality."
Faulkner said: "Cooking to me, is about recipes lovingly shared, handed down, passed on, not necessarily from mothers to daughters but from family members and friends, generation to generation. I hope my cook book encapsulates that. I have loved writing this book and I hope my recipes will inspire you to be creative in the kitchen."
