Publishers Lunch

Today's Meal

Sarah Hochman, editor-in-chief of Blue Rider Press and Plume, has decided to leave the publisher, as of May 10. She has been at Blue Rider since its founding in 2011.

Andrea Fleck-Nisbet joined Ingram Content Group as director of content acquisition sales, reporting to Kelly Gallagher and based in New York. Previously, she was executive director of digital strategy and operations for Workman Publishing.

Holly Root, an agent with Waxman Leavell Literary Agency for the past 10 years, will launch Los Angeles-based Root Literary on May 1. Agent Taylor Haggerty will join Root at the new agency.

Ingram Publisher Services will distribute the Fodor's Travel titles beginning July 1. Online media and technology company Internet Brands, which
acquired Fodor's from Penguin Random House in mid-2016, has worked with Ingram since 2010 on the distribution of Nolo Press. Internet Brands communications director Joe Ewaskiw said: "Since Fodor's Travel joined Internet Brands last year, we've been increasing the investment in content and the number of titles produced each year. Thus our goal in choosing a distributor was to find a partner who could scale Fodor's sales while maintaining the brand's reputation for quality. After much consideration, we determined Ingram was an ideal fit -- especially after seeing the positive experience with Ingram that Nolo Press has enjoyed over the past seven years."

Quarto will launch a Spanish language imprint, Quarto Iberoamericana, in partnership with Argentina-based Catapulta Editores. The imprint will publish 20 books a year from Quarto's catalogue, with the first six books launching in fall 2017. Ceo Marcus Leaver, said: "Our stated intention to further expand our scale and reach around the globe sees it third iteration in the Spanish language, following the successful launch of Kalimat Quarto, our Arab language imprint in 2016, and Quarto Editora, our Brazilian imprint in 2015. This is another great example of finding further opportunities for growth with the right partners who share our values."
