Hello again,
Unbelievably, May finds us almost at the halfway mark of 2014. Here at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival Office we have been busily inviting writers from all over the world for the October 1-5 Festival. It’s shaping up to be an incredibly strong and varied program; all celebrating the central theme Saraswati: Wisdom & Knowledge.
We’ll have lots more to reveal over the next couple of months, so keep an eye out. We will be slowly releasing writers’ names on social media and here in the e-News, so all of your To Read lists are about to get a whole lot longer! And don’t forget to put a big star on July 1 in your dairies – as that’s when our Early Bird tickets are released.
We’ve also got some ways you can get involved in the Festival – with our call-out for Expressions of Interest for both Book Launches and the International Media & Publicity Coordinator position now open. See below for more information.
Finally, we were absolutely thrilled to announce the final 15 emerging Indonesian writers our Curatorial Board has selected to appear as part of the 2014 Festival. A staggering 529 writers applied, from 125 cities in 27 provinces – a testament to the potential of authors in the archipelago. Huge thanks to all who submitted, to the Curatorial Board for their efforts, and of course congratulations to the successful applicants.
Till we meet again,
Janet
