Faber and Faber author Derek B. Miller won two of the three awards on offer at this year’s CrimeFest 2014, with Robert Galbraith's The Cuckoo's Calling taking the third.Miller’s Norwegian by Night won the eDunnit Award for best crime fiction e-book, and the Goldsboro Last Laugh Award for best humourous crime novel, beating authors including Val McDermid, Denise Mina and Carl Hiaasen.
Norwegian by Night won the CWA John Creasey New Blood Dagger at the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards in 2013.
The third CrimeFest accolade, the Audible Sounds of Crime Award, was won by The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (Hachette Audio), the pseudonym for J K Rowling, read by Robert Glenister.
CrimeFest co-director Myles Allfrey said: “For these authors to win the awards perfectly reflects the ethos of CrimeFest, the convention that celebrates both new and established talent and everything in between.
“We are thrilled to have them as winners and we look forward to welcoming them to a future CrimeFest.”
The winners were announced at a gala dinner at CrimeFest, held in Bristol, yesterday (18th May).
