Hachette Children’s
Books announce the launch of a new website, ‘Children’s Authors Live’, which
allows them to host and archive live stream events. The website www.childrensauthorslive.com
will be live from Thursday 08 th May 2014.
Hachette
Children’s Books are working with online video specialists, StreamUK, to bring
fantastic author events to thousands of children, who can watch either live or
as a download. Hachette Children’s Books continue to work with partners such as
national charity The Reading Agency to promote these events to UK school
children.
The decision to launch
‘Children’s Author Live’ came after Hachette Children’s Books hosted its first
ever live stream event with Cressida Cowell in September 2013 and secured a
total of over 35,000 views – both live and downloaded. The success of this
event – which was held at Southfields Library (managed by Greenwich Leisure
Limited) and organised in conjunction with The Reading Agency-- led to a second
live stream event with Robert Muchamore in February 2014 which went out to 10%
of all secondary schools across the UK on World Book Day.
Susan Barry, Group
Marketing Director of Hachette Children’s Books commented, "Live stream
events are an integral part of publicity and marketing campaigns for our biggest
brands which is why we’ve created a cross-imprint platform for our live stream
assets. We wanted to ensure children across the country and globally could
experience what it is like to see an author live. All the events are
downloadable once streamed and our previous events featuring Cressida Cowell
and Robert Muchamore will be available on the site when it launches. In
addition we are uploading teacher resources and other digital treats to ensure
that childrensauthorslive.com is a real destination for parents, teachers and
librarians."
