1999: CRUMPY’s MATE SOLVES A MYSTERY
He’s
been dead two years, so it’s time to tell the truth about Barry Crump.
Tonight’s TV documentary, A Wandering Star, interviews family members, friends and lovers
to create a portrait of a very complex character. It also sheds an
uncompromising light on Crumpy’s despicable abuse of women. Still, he married
five times, so there must have been something about him that was attractive to
women. Blokes, it seems, are at a bit of a loss to understand his appeal, until
one bemused mate thinks he might have the answer. ‘Barry,’ he observes, ‘was
hung like a butcher shop’s window.’
