National Poetry Day is a New Zealand-wide celebration of
poetry and runs in conjunction with the New Zealand Post Book Awards.
You are invited to celebrate National Poetry Day at
Takapuna Library by enjoying an evening of readings by local poets Stu Bagby,
Tony Beyer, Janet Charman and Peter Bland.
Join us for light refreshments from 6pm before the event
begins at 6.30pm.

New Zealand author Eleanor Catton speaks about her
new Man Booker Prize long listed novel The Luminaries in conversation
with Listener columnist David Larsen.
Eleanor's second novel The Luminaries is set
during the wild times of gold mining in 1866, on the West Coast of New Zealand.
The New Zealand Book Council, the Friends of Takapuna
Library, Victoria University Press and the Michael King Writers' Centre urge
you to to take this opportunity to hear Eleanor in conversation with David
Larsen. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Paper
Plus.
