HarperCollins New Zealand will publish the first book by social media
sensation Jamie Curry for Christmas 2015.
Jamie’s World: They let me write a book! takes Jamie’s fans and
followers behind the scenes of her online existence to discover where she comes
from, how she achieved such remarkable success, and what she makes of it now.
It is all told with the same unique and hilarious perspectives they’ve
come to love from Jamie’s World online.
"It's been super cool working on the book as it's something I've
never done before! I'm excited for people to see this side of me which I
haven't really talked about on the Internet,” says Jamie.
Jamie’s World commands a large global audience – more than 10 million
Facebook likes and nearly 1.4 million You Tube subscribers, and over 50 million
lifetime views. Not bad for a Napier school girl who began posting videos from
her bedroom in 2012.
HarperCollins’ NZ Publisher Finlay Macdonald says the idea of asking
Jamie to try her hand at a book was obvious. “If you’ve seen her posts online,
or have kids the right age who’ve showed you, it’s clear to see that here is a
genuine comedic talent at work. She’s a natural and she’s truly original, and
that is what every publisher is looking for.
“Jamie’s fans are everywhere, too, and she’s particularly loved in
Britain and the US, as well as Australia and, of course, New Zealand.”
Jamie’s World: They let me write a book! will be published
internationally in November 2015.
