SHORT TAKES ON LONG POEMS
A Trans Tasman Symposium at the University of Auckland, 29-30 March 2012
We are interested in short long poems and long short poems; in epic, segmentivity and seriality; in the book-length or site-specific poem. We like the challenge of folding the universe into a matchbox. We like matchboxes made of dark matter. We want to be surprised, diverted and delighted by what we can bring to points of exchange, and we want to bring those points – before, during, and/or after our symposium – into digital renditions.
Focused presentations and a highly participatory audience; physical/digital blends; trans Tasman (and trans Pacific) colloquy: register now for SHORT TAKES ON LONG POEMS (full $90; student $60 before 22 March).
Confirmed speakers include: Pam Brown, Stephanie Christie and Alex Taylor, Rachel Blau DuPlessis. Jacob Edmond, Bernadette Hall and Dinah Hawken, Martin Harrison, Ya-wen Ho, David Howard, Jill Jones, Lucas Klein, Kate Lilley, Cilla McQueen, Philip Mead, Sam Moginie and Andy Carruthers, Ella O’Keefe, Jack Ross, Susan Schultz and Jaimie Gusman, Hazel Smith, John Tranter, Ann Vickery and Jessica Wilkinson.
