CORRUPTED ON THE CÔTE D'AZUR

CORRUPTED ON THE  CÔTE D'AZUR

Richard Donald

Corrupted on the Côte d’Azur ($29.99) continues Richard Donald’s involvement with France as enjoyed by those who read his first two books French Leave and Travels without a Donkey. However this novel is a departure. The style is still light hearted but the subject is serious — corruption. How does it start? Is it only the small flies that get caught up in the cobweb of the law?

Before his retirement Richard Donald was an endocrinologist and professor in medicine at the Christchurch School of Medicine. He is now Professor Emeritus at the University of Otago.

In addition to the four books he has written since retiring, Richard has co-authored of over 200 scientific publications. ‘Scientific writing has to be concise and unambiguous, and imagination is frowned upon’ he says. ‘Most statements have to be backed up by a reference. The books I have written since retirement have given me the pleasure of breaking free of these restrictions.’

“Donald’s writing has a light touch, but his insight gives it depth. He is crisp with his observations of politics and people, food and foibles . . .” THE CHRISTCHURCH PRESS.

The book’s cover is by Richard Donald’s wife, ceramic artist Gennie de Lange.

The book will be launched at Time Out Bookstore, Mt Eden, on Friday 6 November.
