Land of Birds
This stunning new book of New Zealand bird illustrations is a very
personal and sensitive tribute to this country’s remarkable birdlife.
Land of Birds is a
stunning collection of New Zealand bird illustrations. Inspired by the
tradition of naturalists’ journals, Niels
Meyer-Westfeld has created a very personal and sensitive tribute to this
country’s remarkable birdlife. His beautifully detailed illustrations of birds
cover all of our bestloved forest, alpine, wetland and sea and shore birds. The
main illustrations are supported by masterfully rendered sketches and working
drawings. Accompanying the illustrations is text from the author, which
combines information about the species, with anecdotes from the process of
creating his artwork.
Land of Birds will
appeal to anyone with a passion for New Zealand’s flora and fauna, particularly
birds, as well as those with an interest in illustration and art.
