New Zealand Book Council/Creative New Zealand 2014/15 International Travel Fund grants announced

New Zealand authors will appear at high-profile international literary festivals and share our literary culture on the world stage with assistance from New Zealand Book Council/Creative New Zealand 2014/15 International Travel Fund grants.

Kate De Goldi, Anne Kennedy, Ian Wedde, Damien Wilkins, Rachael Craw and Rachel Fenton will attend upcoming international literary events with support from the International Travel Fund. The purpose of the fund is to support and showcase New Zealand writing talent at key international writing festivals.

The programme continues to make a targeted approach to enhancing the profile of New Zealand writing overseas by developing long term relationships with a specific range of international festivals. Priority is given to those applications that align with Creative New Zealand’s strategic initiatives, such as the Te Manu Ka Tau international visitors’ programme, and the Focus on Asia initiative, including New Zealand’s presence as Guest of Honour at the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) in 2015.

In addition, strong relationships have been developed with close neighbours Australia and key international English language festivals in the UK, Canada and the United States.
